Was really excited because i spotted a blue banded bee buzzing around the rosemary flowers in one of the park gardens. Don't bother looking for it in the photo - it wouldn't stay still long enough. I'd slapped a combo sunscreen/insect repellent on which probably didn't help there. Mozzies have been fierce after the rain.

I had some visitors while I was gardening today. A fairy wren watching me from the fence and a blue banded bee enjoying these rather fabulous impatiens. I’m thrilled to see a fairy wren in my garden not just flying around the edges. Hopefully she comes back! #gardening #BlueBandedBee #FairyWren #florespondance #australianwildlife

I have tried many times over the years to grow #fruits and #vegetables in pots or #garden beds. And failed more times than I can think.

A random tomato plant, that grew from my retainer wall garden, that I have never had in my garden before (I've never attempted to grow yellow tomatoes only red, so a bird must have popped that put), that happens to be right next to a #bluebandedbee nesting site. Everyday I'm picking more and more off the vines.

My retaining wall garden was clay when I moved in. It was in terrible condition. Now. It's thick with grasses and random plants of sun jewels, salvias, rosemary and lavender. And the random tomato plant as well. Every afternoon I can see a dozen blue bees swarming along it. #Butterflies hide their eggs and #birds treat themselves to the tomatoes.

I've worked so hard to have life in that area. Mulching, adding soil and compost. Pulling weeds that weren't helping and leaving the ones that did (there is a whole clump of #dandelions in one part!). And it is now thriving.

I cannot wait to see what this year brings. For now I'm hoping today brings some rain.

The only goals I am making this year is to expand my #garden and see more #BlueBandedBee in it next year.

I want to do more #baking and expand my family cook #book. And keep going with #yoga. Go on mini adventures around my home. Keep studying and maybe start another language.

Overall, I want to keep going slow and steady. Keep having moments with my family and friends. Do things that just make me happy.
