Few pics from this year’s edition of Sophie’s Death March, aka, Day 1 of the Trifecta. Hoping my body holds up for days 2 & 3. Hollows were hot, still, and humid. Ridgeline was warm, dry, and breezy.

Don’t have much hope for tomorrow’s weather. First three miles are notoriously wet.

Sure, no vast vistas to look at, but most of the miles today were *runnable*—a difficult thing to find in this section of the Blue Ridge. Plenty of miles of soft single track, some pine needle covered sections, and somehow, these trails aren't well traveled, so there's plenty of wildlife.

The owner recently received an unsigned letter from a disappointed customer. The customer took issue with him wearing a shirt that said "Protect Trans Kids," claiming it was offensive to the families and children at the cafe.

The cafe's owner posted a copy of the letter to FB, so it isn't any kind of secret he supports the rights of trans humans.

Also, they make pretty good sandwiches.

I see so many pics of trails and mountains from the West and Europe, so I thought ya’ll be jealous w/ pics of today’s run in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia’s #BlueRidge.

First up is the socked in view from the trailhead. Next is the trail full of slippery rocks and roots that could be snakes, surrounded by lush vegetation. And more rocky trails and veg.

Sorry for not including more rocks, it’s hard to pick. And the still, humid air is impossible to capture.
