My space-loving heart was delighted to find Dream Animals by Emily Winfield Martin, a bedtime lullaby of constellations carrying you away to fantastical dreams.
I hadn’t memorized a poem since obliged to for school, but as predicted I now have this one embedded in my soul. Picking up her Day Dreamers is on my wishlist.

Celina Kalluk’s Sweetest Kulu* is a gorgeous bedtime tale.
It’s all about Arctic animals bringing character gifts to a newborn. I particularly like that polar bear uses strength to teach gentleness.
(*Kulu is a northern / Inuit endearment.)
No updates, first impression still stands over a year later.

I’m (still) addicted to reading Everywhere Babies by Susan Meyers, which is handy as I have it memorized enough to not be fazed that some words have since been eaten.
The rhythm is so fun, and it’s casually inclusive of all styles of parents & babies. It’s a nice break from the constant comparisons of growth curves & milestones. And it’s a banned book because… fuck if I know?!

Infant eyesight is all about contrasts, but so many of the early high contrast books books are just... too dull to tolerate.
But Jane Foster’s Black & White has lovely art on alternating dark or light backgrounds, and the accompanying text has gerunds to go with the basic nouns!
Kiddo didn’t get into it until hitting the “point for word” language development stage & even then only for the final page.

My reading habits are still heavily titled to board books & I’m always seeking suggestions.
Anders & the rest of the plush gang keep notes on our reviews. I’m starting with updates on prior Twitter reviews, but the thread will grow with new favs over time.
Kiddo’s library is on Goodreads (along with a wishlist shelf inspired by your recommendations) if that’s your preference for talking books: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/129371227-mika
