We haven't read the books, but it's a really easy game to set up. It's difficult to play.

@Age_of_Greed and I rented the game for a week for $11.

This #boardgame is part of the Pandemic System (same creator) but has different ways to modify difficulty.
Players complete a different number of missions depending on difficulty and can choose different villains to increase difficulty.

Rather than cities, there's planets.

Rather than place cubes on cities, you put droids. If there're three droids on a planet, you place a blockade. If there's a blockade on the planet, you increase the threat level.

There's a villain that comes on and off the board.
There's missions assigned to certain planets.

If the villain is standing on your mission planet, the threat level increases. It can be easier to lose with the tracker going down to Palpatine.

There are modifier cards (at least how Adrian interpreted it) that you can use to help defeat villains and missions.
You use d20 to battle villains too.
