We have refitted our main mast compression post. All these extra layers:
2 layers of woven glassfibre mat extra on deck, under mast foot.
2 layers of woven glassfibre mat under the deck.
Then 2mm of FR4 bedded with thickened epoxy.
Then 10mm stainless steel plate (same size as the mast foot plate).
Then original compression post (slightly shortened).
Below that 2mm FR4. Then 2mm neoprene. Then original timber base but now impregnated with penetrating epoxy.
