Money is in the bank, so I guess Songbird is officially sold. New owner coming on Sunday for handover. Think we found a good one, time will tell. He's keeping the name, a very good sign.

So from next week, Songbird and us will go on seperate adventures. End of an era, but a very good one.

Cruising has taught us a lot, not just how to fix everything, but about life, about partnership, about what you really need and what you don't.

Here's a few tips for buying a boat:

* Make sure you are ready to own a boat
* Don't assume price is a fantasy number that you can negotiate down by 10% without a reason
* Boat movements are subject to weather, even if it's just to the travelift
* Weather forecasts may be wrong, especially if more than a day ahead
* Marinas and yards in the Med cost a lot more than in northern Europe
* Boatyards are busy in spring!
* Be quick to view, the market is hot
* Have the money!
