This rec is because my brother and I had a whole discussion about the feasibility of the genesis device (from #startrek #wrathofkhan and #searchforspock) using a banned substance without Starfleet being aware of it. I argued that the scientists could easily have left out that they're using it and (supported by the following BobbyBroccoli videos) that it's not like anyone in starfleet would be subject-matter experts--it's not possible to be a subject-matter expert in something so new--so it's not like they would be able to catch that part of the process is being concealed from them. Also, it's such a top secret project that they're definitely not going to let other people test whether the results are replicable.
