so you know how there have been way too many Marvel movies and TV series in the last few years? That might be because of Bob Chapek, head of Disney.

Now that Bob Iger is back, all of a sudden shows and TV shows are being delayed, and the formats have been changed. Hopefully this can help Marvel get back on its feet, because there definitely needs to be more to unify the MCU now, it feels disorganised, but not in a thoughtful way.

The #BobChapek firing at #Disney is symbolic of a problem throughout the whole of media and entertainment.

It would be easy to handwave his many missteps as the reason he got fired and learn nothing of the whole situation.

But when you prioritize sales figures over content at a media company, the content starts to fail, and ultimately so do the sales, despite very short-term sales gains.

Sacrificing content/product for sales will fail every time. Maybe not right away. But it will.

While I am relieved #BobChapek is out at #Disney (relieved as I can be for a 💰 corp 💰), I don't think people should be singing the praises of #BobIger too loudly.

Half of the shit Chapek was dealing with was stuff Iger started. Chapek wasn't the right leadership, but Iger is also very much at fault as well. Now he gets to ride in as a hero which is a bit sus.

What timing, huh? Very shrewd and calculated. Chapek was probably put in place to fail.

If I may comment on #Disney…
Bob Chapek (just replaced by his predecessor) laid off long time employees(experienced, entitled to benefits), after lockdowns were lifted in Southern CA. Instead of re-hiring many, he chose to launch a multi-million dollar recruiting campaign (on tv) to hire new employees he could hire in cheaper and without benefits.

Now more are losing jobs before the holidays.
