Old timers seen so prominently in Brooklyn who pass half the day in a bodega. They were both about my age, both half-heartedly dancing to a rocking Mumbai jam blaring loud and proud with a woman's piercingly beautiful wails and a thundering tabla, tambura, and dilruba line.
Upon seeing these men, there was, of course, only one thing to do. I leapt into the air, splaying my arms, and then spun around with some vivacious footwork, causing the two men to stop in their tracks and burst into uproarious laughter.
"Daaaaaaaaamn!" said one of the men.
And as I left, their terpsichorean lethargy had entered a new phase and they both embraced the glorious Indian music with a renewed ardor.
I'd say my Friday is off to a good start!
