In my mind, this link clearly demonstrates that whatever driving force at the council that was behind the A38 and A34 blue routes being designed as serious transport links for cycle users has clearly evaporated. There are some good features, but taken as a whole it's slow compared to riding in traffic, gives mixed messages to drivers and creates needless conflict with pedestrians.
