August 2010 - Cinco de Mayo Tacos in Culver City, California.

We were staying in the nearby Travelodge on a road trip taking in 5000 miles of the American south west. I'm fairly sure this was also the night we had burritos from here for dinner.

"We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert"

Back in 2010, we stopped for lunch in (I think) Barstow and when we pulled up, I snapped this shot of the less visible part of an old motel next door.

Unfortunately, for me, this photo predates my GPS logging and Google Timeline histories so I don't know for sure where we were at the time.

These days the camera logs and encodes GPS co-ordinates itself, so we know a lot more.

The Sourdough Saloon in Beatty, Nevada, is one of the closest watering holes to Death Valley and a favourite haunt of many of the engineering and test driver teams that visit the valley to test and calibrate vehicles in the extremes of that unique climate.

Many of these teams leave parts of the cars they have tested behind on the walls of the bar and many other visitors sign bank notes and post them on the walls as well
