From the eccentric mind of Viv Stanshall, visually annotated for your pleasure. And yes, that actually is Eric Clapton on the Ukulele🌟

(Andrew Male)
The man best known for his work with the Bonzo Dog Band was brilliant, volatile and met an untimely end. Now his unfinished work has been rescued.

Today’s listening is ‘Keynsham’, the 1969 album by the Bonzo Dog Band.
This album contains a mix of relatively ‘normal’ pop/rock songs written by Neil Innes, with the ‘wacky’ tracks left in the capable hands of Vivian Stanshall.
Highlights for me are ‘Tent’ and ‘Mr Slaters’ Parrot’.
The inside of the gatefold outer sleeve bears the strange tale of the fictional town of ‘Keynsham’, written by Stanshall, which is very reminiscent of the future Rawlinson End.

Today’s listening is ‘Tadpoles’, the 1969 album by the Bonzo Dog Band.
Still funny after all these years, though some of the humour is now ‘of it’s time’.
The track ‘Shirts’ is very reminiscent of Monty Python (which came first I wonder?) with it’s hilarious ‘man in the street’ interview, plus ‘well, that was the sound of Roger’s Wah-Wah rabbits’!
Apart from their BIG HIT, another favourite track of mine is ‘Mr. Apollo’ (wrestle poodles and win!).
