No one asked me if I had my parents' permission to read the book. I got that 900-page nineteenth-century tome, and I read it, and I did not really enjoy it. :)

But the point is, no one said, NO. No one said, that book isn't age-appropriate. No one said, we need to ask your parents first. The librarian got me the book and I read it.
