@jas_hughes
I haven't used it personally, but I hear good things about "Learning Stats with R" and it looks like the #bookdown version uses #tidyverse
@michelnivard @ERDonnachie yeah this is a problem I ran into in my previous job. We generated user documentation using RMarkdown and the `bookdown` package because lots of the content was code-generated reference tables. But we still needed input from non-technical staff.
It ended up being less effort for us to export a Word doc version and have them track changes then manually copy them over when they were finalized but it felt unsustainable.
Refactoring our Data Team handbook into #QuartoPub and I gotta say itβs very, very nice. Itβs been much easier to use as a knowledge base than #bookdown
@analyst42 @chrisbeeley I used #distill for a public site and #bookdown for internal things I just can't share, like connection strings. It's surprising how often I get to share the links to public posts compared to internal links.
@ingorohlfing i gave my undergrad with little R background the task of converting our lab protocols into a webpage. She spent several days with #bookdown before switching to #quarto . She said #quarto is much easier!
I wonder if anyone uses #rmarkdown and #bookdown (or #quarto, of which I've only just learned) to process transcripts of discourse (particularly print) with inline markup or other coding.
@maryErudis I'm switching from #R #bookdown to #Quatro. Overall a smooth transition, not in the least thanks to the good documentation. Differences with RMarkdown are small, but includes some clear improvements. Overall, I'm a happy user π
