'The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida', 2022 Booker Prize winner, was a particularly difficult read for moi, and not only because the narrator is a murdered gay photojournalist who must solve his own murder to move on in the afterlife, or because of the sheer brutality of the political scenario it depicts.
