I used to treat myself each summer by reading one Dorothy Dunnett novel, then my self-control gave way and I gorged on all the remaining Lymond and Niccolo books in one big gulp. That’s my mantra today as I work with the exquisite sheets of hand-marbled paper by Laura Berretti, trimming them to make jackets for the forthcoming Thoreau booklet, “The Angle of Dazzle.” It’s an honor and also slightly terrifying to cut these pieces of art.
