#BooksRead2022 - 120 - “The Last Wish” by Andrzej Sapkowski
Forgot to post this one that closed out last year. First recommended book in The Witcher series. I can see why the novels were popular enough to adapt into a game franchise. Plays with myth and fantasy in fun ways.
#BooksRead2022 - 119 - “Seveneves” by Neal Stephenson
Probably the hardest science fiction about orbital mechanics that I have ever read, or maybe ever will be written. Loved the story even though many will not. And as usual with Stephenson, an ending that sort of trails off…
#BooksRead2022 - 118 - “Sula” by Toni Morrison
A wild ride through the politics of race, sex, and relationships in Ohio in the early half of the 20th Century. Centered around Sula, an enigmatic character that may be considered a hero today, as Morrison through Sula predicted.

#BooksRead2022 - 117 - “Understanding Kurt Vonnegut” by William Rodney Allen
A literary review of Vonnegut’s novels through Bluebeard, helping the reader to understand the influences and themes at work in each. Many references to Allen’s collection of interviews with Vonnegut.

4.7/5 ⭐️'s - A Queen Comes to Power
(An Heir Comes to Rise #2)
C.C. Peñaranda
It just gets better!!! For two days I was living in this world of fey. I have a book type and I am not embarrassed. This series is just what I had been looking for when I finished all three #SJM series. I wish I had found it sooner. A nice little wrap with intrigue to come. I hear book 3 gets spicy. 😏

I've been busy reading, which is why I've been gleefully away from social media. NO REGRETSSSS!

I am not ashamed to admit that I finished this one in 2 days. And look for book 2 review next because I am IN IT. #SJM lovers rejoice, this series is good for recovery. Starting book 3 today.

Looks like I've forgotten to do some book reviews! Here we go:
4.3/5 ⭐️'s - The Iron Raven (The Iron Fey: Evenfall #1) Julie Kagawa
I am a few years from having read the prior series. It was fun to jump back into it. Puck has always been my favorite character from this world. So I am thrilled to follow him on some adventures told from his perspective.

Book 25 for the year - The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley (audiobook) - decent twisty who dunnit book, would be great holiday book (it's for a book club late January) #audiobooks #LucyFoley #booksread2022 #bookclubreads

#BooksRead2022 - 116 - “Great Un-Expectations” ed. by Charity Winiarski
The second anthology from the Ventura County Writers Salon has an expanded roster and diverse stories centered around unexpected guests. Highlights definitely include Rebecca Quincy’s emotional “Last Words”.
#BooksRead2022 - 115 - “Old Angel Midnight” by Jack Kerouac
The yin to “The Scripture of the Golden Eternity”’s yang. Kerouac’s ramble poem is extensive and decidedly Taoist, seeing everything in his odd life as necessary and true. Lots of word jazz in this one!

99: A Sh*tload of Crazy Powers, by Jackson Ford.
Another decent read in the Frost Files. And the penultimate book before 100 for the year
I finished Barbara Tuchman’s towering “Guns of August” yesterday. It’s slightly embarrassing to admit that as I have owned the book for decades. But it was such a powerful work of scholarship and story-telling that I had to share with someone. #BooksRead2022 #history #ww1

I'm in that weird place between books where I'm still processing the last one and wanting to start a new one but not ready for it.
