The scenes of demonic possession in I.B. Singer's first novel, Satan in Goray, published in Yiddish in 1933, are quite vivid and disturbing. I've read that he was one of the few Yiddish writers of his time to write about demonic possession. Does anyone know if he saw S. Ansky's play The Dybbuk?
