Eighth of my #BooksOf2023

Not very long, but very readable - this was an enthralling look at the cycle of the year through the lens of Old English poetry. While a lot of the material used was quite familiar, what Parker did with it expanded my perspective and refreshed my enthusiasm for the early mediæval which I’ve rather neglected. Highly recommended.

I just finished #Wilding by #IsabellaTree which chronicles and delves into her and husband's journey on wilding #KneppFarm

Not only is this #book a goldmine of interesting info. It really opens up ones eyes to the sheer hoops people have to jump through in order to try and make the world better. To try and help the earth.

This book covers so much about the #environmental, #conservational #political #social and #scientific hurdles, issues, reactions and help that this couple went through in order to try wilding their farm. I was floored. It was just phenomenal. The tangents were fascinating and I've come away with pages of notes of people, places and books to research.

This is a very specific eg of wilding but that's what makes it so amazing to read. Isabella goes in-depth about their land. The tangents are all a Domino effect, showing how intertwined their parcel of land is to the bigger area and even country (looking at the waterways section and Birdlife)

Being comedian, actor and writer, Ince’s writing is so full of dry humour. I started laughing from the introduction chapter and looking forward to seeing him at his book singing event!

Today’s #BookRecomendation, the first in my #HistoryTuesday sub-cycle, is Morgan Llywelyn’s “1916,” the opening volume in a masterful series that charts Irelands journey from one end of the twentieth century to the other. #bookstdon

Next in my #BookRecommendations, kicking off our #MilitaryMonday series, is Patrick Robinson’s 2006 thriller, “Ghost Force.” Robinson is at his best (IMO at least) when dealing with the RN (as opposed to the USN), and a second Falklands War provides him with an ideal setting, with Russia secretly backing Argentinian aggression, and the US Seals stepping in to help under cover of darkness and deniability. #bookstdon
