Bob Geldof was a close friend of the singer and they grew up in the same streets. Sinead was a fan of the #BoomtownRats and went often to their concerts. I didn’t know all this before.

Very sad to hear about the death of #BoomtownRats guitarist Gary Roberts. Two of the Rats were students at Bolton Street College in Dublin and in October 1975 I was Secretary of the SU and organised the Rats very first gig in the Common Room as part of our Student Festival. #RIP
