Each contest went to a different greater title track. Frankly, it's kind of a mess. #bootblacking in a community sense is quickly fading away from the scene. As our leather spaces slowly disappear and special events become the norm, fewer and fewer bootblacks come out to provide the service and intimacy that I enjoy on a regular basis both to provide and receive. And when it comes to being a titleholder, expectations are that you need to do more than love what you do. 5/x

So I've been having a lot of thoughts about #bootblacking and titles and contests. When the IMBB staff resigned en masse, there was a lot of questions about why it's difficult to find bootblacks to compete for titles, even international ones like IMBB. When I competed in 2019, there were four contestants compared to 72 for the IML contest the same weekend. I think a lot of people don't realize the differences between those two contests and the commitment they require. 1/x
