So I learned that people are putting #Borax into their water and consuming it.

I keep thinking that we were a species that made it to the moon. Eradicated diseases. And now...? We're having to tell people that just because some tiktok influencer is doing it doesn't make it safe.

I used to use borax to clean the bathroom - it does a good job & leaves things smelling like nothing. For me, that's great since often my sense of smell is a bit too keen. But afterwards I would get tremor, so I switched to baking soda - which does almost as good a job. Boron causes reproductive harm in male rodents* & sale of borax is limited in some areas. It is sometimes used as firming agent in noodles & to make home made 'slime'.

This old relic is sitting out in an old ghost town called Rhyolite, NV. It's near Death Valley and is part of the area where the 20 Mule Team carried Borax. It was a real operation and a huge marketing tool for Borax back in the day.

Rhyolite is cool, there are large sculptures and art installations in the middle of the desert.

It's kind of eerie, but it's also really beautiful.
