Confirmation, but not many details of a an air-to-air UAV system project. While this talks about being launched from airplanes, I've long believed a full system will consist of AWACS-style long duration monitoring platforms combined with a fleet of missile launch patrol vehicles - all loitering at high altitudes, watching over long distances.

But… 3 #BorderPatrol agents fatally shot Mr. #Mattia as they came upon him…, hitting him 9 times, acc/to an autopsy. A Border Patrol report says he had tossed a sheathed machete toward an officer & then “abruptly extended his right arm.” His family said he was #unarmed & posed no threat.

His death has touched off an outcry on the #TohonoOodham Nation, which lies along 62 mi of the so border, & stirred up long-running resentments over the federal agency’s presence on #NativeAmericanTerritory.

Border patrol treatment of migrants is bad in Texas. It's bad in Arizona too. The humanitarian aid groups mentioned are the ones I work with when I am there during the rest of the year.

No matter what you think about current immigration policy or what it should be, you have to be a monster to think treating human beings this way is OK.

Edit to add: please tag any journalists you know who work on border issues. We would like to get this out far and wide to put pressure on Border Patrol to end this practice before someone dies.
