#DidYouKnow: The #BoringBillion, otherwise known as the Mid Proterozoic and Earth's Middle Ages, is the time period between 1.8 and 0.8 billion years ago (Ga) spanning the middle Proterozoic eon.
The period is believed to mark a delay in the evolution of complex life, primarily due to low levels of oxygen in the atmosphere.
We had another packed class of Earth and Environmental Science students this week.
The GEOS1211 group got a recap of the 'scientific method' and how hypotheses are developed, tested, and sometimes rejected.
Indrani Mukherjee gives an example of the 'boring billion's years of Earth history, and how she found it wasn't so boring after all.
And to help understand how science really works, we played 'the scientific method is crap' TEDx talk by Teman Cooke. If you ever wondered about science in practice, here's the link
