Her attitude in #london at least was not very different to that of #lordsalisbury in the 1890s. He created the original #london #boroughs in response to the progressive-controlled #london #county #council - ironically the progressives lost control of the latter early in the 1900s and never got it back. Similarly she built up the inner london boroughs in the 1980s - ironically all but one of these have since rejected the #conservatives - even #wandsworth and #westminster !

In central #london there appears to be a swath of planning applications to convert the more marginal commercial real estate to mixed and/or other use. This seems a logical response and may well find favour with both the relevant #boroughs and the #mayorofLondon - since May 2022 just one #localcouncil there remains #conservative !
