I never throw out the pickled beet brine, because it's great for making #borscht, or at least, borscht the way I make it, which is kind of like a chunky stew made with pickled beet brine, beef stock, red wine, kielbasa (or similar sausage), beef, potatoes, carrots, pickled beets, celery, and onions. Sometimes I add sour cream and horseradish as garnish. "Borscht" is really an entire family of soups and stews that are made differently in different regions to different tastes.

#Easter morning. As I posted before, we left the church long ago but still observe many of the rituals. Today we’ll be listening some #Bach Easter oratorios and making a lot of #SlovakFood. I made a pretty good #Paska bread last night. Later it will be #perogies, lokša, #borscht, and a ham.
