For what it's worth, I hope you'll reelect Councilor Lara if she has been your rep. Might be good replace Arroyo with Pepén.
It being unclear how many candidates we choose this round, here are my other leanings:
District 3 - Joel Richards; Rosalind Wornum if we can pick two in the prelim, possibly Matthew Patton

#Boston folks, we need you to #VOTE tomorrow! The preliminary election for city council takes place on 9/12. It will narrow down our options for November. Please make sure it is on your calendar now. https://www.boston.gov/departments/election

Right 👏 on 👏 cue 👏! Any proposed solution to the nightmare on Methadone Mile is immediately attacked by the public health/non-profit/government blob for not flattering their ideologies. #bospoli https://commonwealthmagazine.org/opinion/a-sweep-through-mass-and-cass-will-do-irreparable-harm/
At the Duran Duran concert at TD Garden, Simon LeBon spoke of his tour of Boston. He was told to visit The Seaport and Beacon Hill. Said they were amazing. HA! I wonder if #bospoli establishment will ever surrender to the idea that The Seaport shows the greatness of Boston now.✊
What a truly disastrous story for Mayor Wu. I would have thought she would bat it down more forcefully and tell us she’d never leave. (It’s baseless, right? ) #bospoli https://www.bostonherald.com/2023/09/06/boston-mayor-michelle-wu-denies-talking-to-harvard-about-job-offer/amp/
Here’s a question #bospoli media *could* ask but will not: “Where did the tents come from? Did those suffering from poverty and addiction stop by REI on the way to Methadone Mile?” The real answer is a door to knowing the real truth down there. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/08/25/metro/mass-and-cass-shelter-plan/

Transportation might be the biggest #climate issue that cities can address. Not only would addressing #transportation equitably help us lower emissions, it would free up space for us to have healthy green parks and homes--JUST TO START!
Support different modes of getting around 🚶♂️ 🚍 🤸 🚴
State governments need to emphatically boost transit-oriented development. Washington also needs to get real. Divert tax $$$ away from personal yachts to building good infrastructure.

I’m tired of #Boston city council candidates mentioning how they’re a parent, or a husband or a wife, blah blah blah. ESPECIALLY if they aren’t proposing real action to address climate, and truth and reconciliation. Get serious.
Of course having __ kids, being married, … aren’t bad things, but they don’t seem to tell me anything substantial about you. Let’s pay attention.

Personal motor vehicles ruin cities 🚗
Some people think / would have you believe that bikes are dangerous. Not even close.
They pose a fraction of the risk for injury that cars do. The speed of a bike is a perception issue, too. You might see a person on two wheels going 20MPH and think they’re flying, but a minivan at 25MPH…? It crawls, right? We don’t always see clearly at first glance.
More (e)bikes for #Massachusetts !

Boston this fall (starting NEXT MONTH 🗳️) will choose our city council.
Truth and reconciliation has to be top of the agenda.
We must address Christian white nationalism and the #climate crisis NOW. Because what good are vague promises to address healthcare, schools, and transportation when our only option for home is burnt to the ground?
Ask any Black Bostonian, anyone who has studied racial justice or tried to push for change in this city, and they’ll say, yes, Boston’s racist — but it’s changing, thanks to Black and brown activists and now leaders in gov’t and business.
They hope NAACP convention attendees go home and recognize the work being done here and that yes, Black people do exist in Boston.

“We’ve already seen the results of pouring tens of billions of dollars into car-centric transportation projects focused primarily on traffic mitigation. A new study by Inrix, a traffic data aggregator, has found that despite the Big Dig and myriad other highway projects aimed at tackling this problem, Boston’s traffic ranking has climbed to second worst in the United States and fourth worst in the world.”

Boston’s City Council is rich in embarrassments. It doesn’t need to be.

I would like to be able to go a week without news breaking about a progressive politician which makes me say to myself, "This is why we can't have nice things."
