We traveled over the North Bank Bridge from Cambridge to Charlestown. The bridge and park were a $26m project as mitigation for the Big Dig project that surrounds it, and it opened in 2012 using funds from the Great Recession American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Ugh. Apparently I’m old enough to have an alcohol-free hangover. A two-day music festival plus an all-nighter biking around, under and over Boston. Worth it!

The Boston By Bike at Night tour crossed over into Cambridge and we enjoyed lots of that city’s great bike infrastructure. “NASA was going to be built in Kendall Square to redevelop Cambridge, but an unfortunate event happened in Dallas and the new president, a Texan, moved it to Houston.”

The Boston By Bike at Night tour followed the new Fenway bike path and then the Muddy Brook path out to Brookline where we peeked at some elaborate mansions on quiet suburban streets.

The next stop on the Boston By Bike at Night tour was at the Christian Science Plaza, discussing the redevelopment that cleared the area and then built three buildings in the early 1970s. The nearby Prudential tower was built in the early 1960s along with the Turnpike to redevelop the railyards that once covered the area.

We joined the Boston By Bike at Night tour last night - organized by architects, it highlights some of Boston’s interesting architecture and history. We started at the historic 1888 McKim Boston Public Library building in Copley Square. Other notable buildings at Copley Square include the Old South Church, Trinity Church and the Hancock Tower.
