Where #BothSideism goes wrong is in judging history.

Looking at history, we have the gift of retrospection.

We can condemn slavery without hearing "both sides" of an issue. We can condemn the world wars, we can condemn Nazi Germany, or the USSR. We can recognise what a tragedy the Holocaust was, and condemn denialism. And that's because these already happened.

If we don't judge history, we aren't learning anything.

Two of these three "situations" are not completely hidden, I agree, but they're under-reported and often euphemised, and often presented with #BothSideism that would be considered unacceptable in the case of the 2022 RU invasion of UA. The Chinese organ harvesting is very rarely reported, it seems to me. And I don't see frequent (any?) BBC use of the term "Tigray genocide" (apparently #TigrayGenocide is banned on FB).

im vergleich zu früher habe ich jetzt begriffe für diskriminierende verhaltensweisen: #gaslighting, #tonepolicing, #whataboutism, #bothsideism, isolation zb. es ändert leider (noch) nichts daran, dass es nach wie vor passiert und viele dem ausgeliefert sind. aber es hilft mir zb, mich nicht mehr dafür auch noch #shamen zu lassen.
