Because a #WhiteTechBro hated on #Spoutible so much, I'm going to give it a try. I used to follow #ChristopherBouzy on #Twitter. I found him to be someone who genuinely cared about the safety of #marginalised people on #SocialMedia, and actually tried to do something about it. Does anyone remember his work to kerb #bots on Twitter with #BotSentinel?

It's not part of the standard experience. That's coming from a Firefox plugin that I use called #BotSentinel. It analyzes account histories and assigns a score indicating how disruptive you are.

If the score is high, there's a good chance the user is a troll or a bot and you may not want to engage with them.

Spoutible is launching soon. I pre-registered for it as soon as sign-ups were open. I signed up for just about all of the alt-twitters that have cropped up. Mastodon is the only one I've stuck with so far, but Spoutible is the one I'm most excited about.

At first I was like, Christ, not another one. This screenshot of the interface looks VERY similar to the bird site

but two things:

1. It’s by the founder of #BotSentinel

2. It’s already being talked about as a better destination for #BlackTwitter than Mastodon

Still, going to give that #spoutible a shot as well. Still not even in the Beta phase, but the promises seems to be good. That #botsentinel thingy is what i'm most intrigued about.

I'd seen this #botsentinel analysis of the #abuse that #HarryAndMeghan got on #Twitter last year, It's mad.

The same happened to #AmberHerd. I nearly found myself falling for that one.

Even in the pre #ElonMusk days, it could so easily have been stopped by their #TrustAndSafety teams - But it wouldn't have angered people, driven engagement and sold ad-space if they had.

@SpockResists I pre-registred for #Spoutible, more as a curiosity because of the integration of #BotSentinel, but I don't currently have any plans to abandon Mastodon. This space has been lovely, and it feels like I have more control over my feed and the things I'm exposed to.

Plus, people here generally seem more concerned with good conversation rather than the hot take of the day.

@finux Interesting. I've definitely seen folks complain about their ratings whose posting habits are spammy or suggest that it's bias or just hate Meghan &/or Amber.
But I've used #BotSentinel and #BotSight side-by-side FOR YEARS and the criteria both apply towards spammy/troll/bot habits on both sides of the political/social spectrum. Their ratings have also been pretty similar and both provide value to my user experience. I do love that Bot Sentinel literally will turn a bad tweeter's text red
