San Francisco use to have around a 1/2 dozen bowling alleys that are all gone now.

Does anyone other than me remember the Japantown Bowl at the corner of Post & Webster that closed around 2000?

There was also the Marina Bowl, The Downtown Bowl, the Mission Bowl, the Park Bowl & the Broadway-Van Ness Bowl.

The Broadway-Van Ness Bowl was located on the block that I grew up on &, as a kid, I could go to the Helen Wills Playground and the Broadway Bowl without crossing the street.

I wonder if the Japanese Bowling Center project in Stonestown has any connection w/the old Japantown Bowl.

The only bowling alley still in town is the Presidio Bowl which use to be for enlisted (wo)men only when the Presidio was controlled by the Army. It's public now but it's a really small bowling alley that can get really busy.

So, the addition of the Japantown Bowling Center will be a welcome addition to The City. 😀
