This it the worst damage. This is the lowest branch of a mature #BoxElder. That branch was about 10 inches in diameter before it twisted open. See the normal size of the branch to the right.

I was listening to this as it happened. It took maybe 10-15 seconds, if that.

The trunk of the Box Elder is about 20-24 inches in diameter. Only the bottom branches were damaged. The rest of the tree is beautiful. Nothing but #gratitude!

FYI: This is right next to my house and under the power line.

There are lots of #birds out there, but mostly the usual suspects, like the #titmouse.
