5 days trapped at home with no electricity has spoiled my #boycotttheworldcup
I can't Not-watch it on telly when I can't watch telly anyway....
perhaps I can Not-watch it online on my phone instead?
Job done.

I have a number of fellow priests here at the rectory on this Saturday afternoon to have a game of Scrabble, as a solidarity event to help us ignore the World Cup and defend human rights.
Three priests have reached breaking point and are demanding I turn the TV on, one is catatonic on the carpet after 18 gin & tonics, My housemaid Gwendoline is proposing fried chicken wings to try and defuse the situation.

Despicable from the Beckhams that there's not even been an email sent.
Joe Lycett is a legend.

Fifa has organised an end-times spectacle in the desert, ushering in a future of fossil fuelled cooling for the lucky few, while the rest of the planet burns.
🔥⚽🔥⚽🔥
"60 to 70% of the electricity produced in Qatar is devoted to air conditioning... And, in 2019, it came almost entirely from fossil fuels, natural gas accounting for 92.4% and oil for 7.6%, according to the International Energy Agency."
Walgelijk, echt walgelijk.
😖 F*ck F*fa. #BoycottTheWorldCup
"We've now got to a point where Fifa has spent years saying this World Cup is for everyone. It's now essentially said that if you wear an armband symbolising that it's OK to be gay, you'll get booked."
I won't be watching the World Cup.
Too many dead. Too many human rights abuses.
Corrupt FIFA should never have given it to Qatar.

The alcohol ban at football matches in Qatar isn’t really news - it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that a country that bans homosexuality, bans swearing or rude gestures, bans intimacy in public and bans sex outside of marriage might have to forego that wee tipple at the match (maybe you just shouldn’t be going). #Qatar #WorldCup #BoycottTheWorldCup

@richieholland This will be the first one I’m missing, intentionally. 6500+ people associated with Qatar World Cup have died (Guardian 2019). Goodness knows what the final figure will be.

This argument I’m hearing that it is helpful to “raise awareness of human rights abuses” during the Qatar World Cup is simply a weak attempt at justification. During the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics there were many protests, awareness was raised, athletes spoke out - and 8 years later LGBT people in Russia still face rights violations, abuse, violence and have no legal non-discrimination protections. What was the impact of that awareness? #BoycottTheWorldCup
