: the reason "semantic tags" appear so powerful is because a tag *indicates the presence of something*, whereas a link (also) indicates *refering to something*.

Framed like this, there‘s two distinct operations here that can have different meaning and enhance the discrimination of what we are doing when we add structure to our text.

I say „hypothetical structure“ because of my recent about the "assistance constraint" - when software forces us to hardcore commit to structure in advance we get issues. Software should *suggest* and give us the *freedom* to constraint - but that doesn‘t mean it can‘t make suggestions and provide hypothetical structure build along time and semantics for example, just to help us actually develop that structure without getting lost.

A from using tentatively for knowledge management as a side effect of using it to track open loops: most "atomic notes" actually fit comfortable into three sentences at most. Everything after this is already induction and often mashes observations, conditionals and conclusions together. You can actually separate those… assuming your system semantic is ontologically powerful enough. You really need tracking and high discoverability to not loose the plot with so many nodes.

What would be a cool geeky mastodon app feature for idea incubation - mark a toot, and it goes into a cue. You get spaced repetition presentations of the toot some time later.

That gives you time to think and produce a response to something someone else said later, without the risk of forgetting to answer.

Morning for some public discussion about - if you dig into the history of outliners, you find a bunch of older tools that used XMPP (then later JSON) to store the tree data structure, and where nodes could hold further metadata fields.

I.e. treeline.bellz.org

Might it be worth revisiting those ideas to address part of the space where knowledge work uses databases and structured information and linking between these files and .md/.org/.norg ?
