Back in ancient times in elementary school when learning to write I had a hard time with lower case b and p and kept mixing them up in my head. I could differentiate them in reading no problem. Writing was a different matter. Trying to read my chicken scratch writing / notes from a meeting last week I apparently still have that issue.

What is it about the word that makes everybody want to type ransomeware?

I was involved in the first case that Microsoft's CSSSec saw so I've probably been writing about ransomware as long as anybody on the planet...and I still add an extra E in there about every fifth time I type the word.
