If we think of each item of disinformation as a kind of virus infecting the brain, then what we need to is force R0 < 1, so that any given propaganda epidemic will die out.

We generally need a multipronged approach. Education is one (what you advocate here) = immunization. Attacking the disinformation with the verified/verifiable truth = anti-viral medicine. Regulating social media to choke the spread of lies = non-pharmacalogical interventions (e.g., social distancing, masking, lockdowns).

We probably also need public health institutions similar to the CDC; e.g., what the FCC used to be before Reagan gutted it.
