a) true excellence in performance
b) widespread participation (and support for young people's skills development)
c) strong links with local communities (inc. 'going where people are' to perform)
d) reach into otherwise under-served(/-funded) communities
e) a distinctive and valuable cultural tradition
it's anomalous that they're not treated as one of #ArtsFunding's highest priorities...

It really does feel like it’s in your bones. Not looking forward to the after effects of a stint in Selby on Sat and another coupla hours outside Tesco on Monday. #BrassBands really do work hard for their money this time of year!
