Retrieve the basic statistical information 'what were #Alphabet's 2022 profits?'

Should be a very easy, exact figure that's not debatable, available in countless primary and reported locations, and very recent.

#Bing and #Google both fully failed. The #BraveBrowser Summarizer produced the exact right information, but then added lots of superfluous content...

Overall not super impressive.

@sleepybisexual in terms of privacy duckduckgo is good but their results aren't that great, in my opinion #startpage , #bravesearch , #whoogle and #searxng are far better in both privacy and results.

The problem with #Mastodon is that it is spoiling me.

I can mute, block, and follow whoever I like. I can remove entire domains from my timelines and mute users whom I don't want to see.

Now, why can't I do this with domains and websites in my search engines? @brave search wants to improve the search engine game, but why do I still see stuff I don't want to? Come on, I would think they would be the first to allow me to block a specific website of popping up every time I search a specific topic.

I should be able to have the same power over my data and what I see and don't see in my search engine that Mastodon grants me!

Starting to track IPs that hit my robots.txt, now that I know Brave says they have a search crawler without a UA that "respects robots.txt". They won't give netblocks, either. They're not welcome to my content, and I'm here to make it as difficult and expensive as possible to get and maintain.

It's sad that so many people remain steadfastly dedicated to enshittifying the 'net. We can't solve this with tech -- we have to solve it with community.

@Mojeek I'm familiar with #BraveSearch , but their past with #crypto and ad-injection is not cool. I also don't support software run by #transphobes, #homophobes, and #science -deniers.

I love the Brave Browser's version of reality.

(Brave Search uses a summariser function to give a TLDR version of the results. It's not always accurate but I prefer this version).

@shantini #Neeva was a good search engine. It's such a shame that it's gone now.
I haven't decided on a replacement as of now. At the moment I'm trying #BraveSearch and it seems solid with its own search index.
I don't really trust companies that build crypto stuff in their browser though.

My problem with #Nona and also #Kagi is, I can't just use them in incognito tabs without being logged in
