@BigShellEvent Is it cold press? I hear that cold press is more fibery and can sometimes fray the edges of the water+pigment on the page.
I have a similar problem where I like how bigger brushes perform overall but want crisp corners like digital coloring or working with pen and pencil.
My mental trick right now is to tell myself that "Oh, this color here is just casting some secondary light next to it hahaha"
There's still the next stage, highlights and detailing, to set ur edges #BreakALeg !
