We did indeed make it to the #BreconBeacons yesterday and had a lovely walk there.
In the end we just parked at the visitors centre and did the common walk from there but will definitely be back to explore some of the other walks there - I'm hoping to find the waterfall one next.

A little standing stone in a terrific setting for today's #StandingStoneSunday
Mynydd Illtyd standing stone is less than a metre tall, but makes up for it with the backdrop of Pen-y-Fan and Corn Du, the highest summits in South Wales. (Portrait, needs a click)

Cloud inversions in the Brecon Beacons. Captured about 30 minutes before sunrise, hence the blue tones. I never made it to the summit of Pen Y Fan before sunrise for the better view sadly. I arrived too late and was to fat and slow π

So, I've been enjoying a long weekend in the Brecon Beacons and so far, it's been a wonderful experience. Today I popped up to Pen Y Fan and whilst descending from there and near Corn Du, I was treated to the sight of the early morning sun casting my tripods shadow on the ground below. That doesn't happen often! :D

It might be a challenge to get some good shots. Especially higher up in the mountains. Best make sure I pack all of my cold weather gear!

Took a walk up Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons early this morning. Visibility only slightly better than when I went up there last year with some sheet ice & blustery winds added. Even with low visibility the views are amazing. #nikon #wales #breconbeacons #penyfan #photography
