🥾 Ridgeline above Saarschleife—a horseshoe curve in the Saar River—in the state of Saarland in Germany. It's likely the yellow rock faces are caused by sulfur or another mineral leeching out, as the region is known for mining.

🌅 Last minutes of the #sunset, in the #vineyards around our village. I love moments like this, where the low sun tints everything it touches with a warm glow. (Vertical photo, if it's not tall on your screen, click it.)

☂️ Happy May Day / Beltane! Here in the #Pfalz region of #Germany, our tiny #wine village had its annual celebration, including a small parade led by a brass band, with two maypoles being carried behind. (To my disappointment, there was no dancing around the poles with ribbons, apparently that happens in Bavaria.)
Anyway, this pic is of our village's vineyards from March.

🏰 The Red Marble Bath at Hohenschwangau #Castle—a neighbor of the famous Neuschwanstein—in Bavaria.
As you first walk into the palace gardens, a fountain attracts your attention, along with the gorgeous view of the lake and Alps. Then you notice the red window. Walking closer, it appears to be opaque. Only when you put your face up to the latticework, do you realize it's open, and the marble bath unfolds.

🪟 A smaller neighboring #castle—within eyesight of King Ludwig II's Neuschwanstein—is his father King Maximillian II's summer hunting palace, Hohenschwangau. The latter overlooks an alpine lake; both are situated in a really beautiful and varied landscape. Hohenschwangau is built in a romantic design, with many fanciful elements. Here are just two of it's many windows. (Wait 'til you see the red marble bath!)

🧚 The #forest in #Germany can seem like fairy wood to me. In disparate areas I've encountered elements that deeply resonate, reminding me of illustrated books by the Brothers Grimm, and others from my childhood. (I wonder too about ancestral memories. The woods here feel *familiar.*)
🥾 Many of Germany's #hiking paths have been beaten down by centuries, if not millennia, of footfalls. I took this iPhone photo in 2021.

❄️ Snow line, less than two weeks ago in the Bavarian Alps. Despite the snow present on the upper heights of the mountains when we arrived, I couldn't believe it snowed again while we were there ... in April.

🌄 With a nod to Impressionist painter Claude Monet, and his many haystack paintings done in different light, I created a series of photographs from our Bavarian chalet's balcony, taken over 7 days. I posted the first photo April 10, these are four more. Enjoy!
