Thousands of #LightBellied #Brent #geese return to #StrangfordLough from the #arctic each #autumn to swait-out the #winter. It’s always a joy to see them - their chattering is an iconic sound of autumn.

Yesterday was special - I found a Brent goose in Cardiff Bay, a rarity in this part of the world. These dark-bellied Brents breed in the Russian Arctic and a large number overwinter in the Exe estuary in southern England so it's possible this bird stopped over briefly to refuel before heading south to join its kin. #BrentGoose #Birding #BirdsUK
