O marvelous exchange! Man’s Creator has become man, born of a virgin. We have been made sharers in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

Evening Prayer, Ps. 111

I will thank the Lord with all my heart
in the meeting of the just and their assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord,
to be pondered by all who love them.

Majestic and glorious his work,
his justice stands firm for ever.
He makes us remember his wonders.
The Lord is compassion and love.

From the 7th century hymn Conditor Alme Siderum:

Creator of the stars of night,
Your people’s everlasting light,
Jesus, Redeemer, save us all,
And hear your servants when they call.

Now, grieving that the ancient curse
Should doom to death a universe,
You heal all those who need your grace
To save and heal a ruined race.
