Any #Linux users using #brew to manage (at least a few of their) packages? Developing on Mac myself and it feels really convenient being able to target both Mac OS and Linux using a single tool, but I have honestly no idea if anyone on Linux is using brew. Are they?
If not, what would be the best way to distribute CLI tools for Linux? My apps are mostly written in Go, so basically just a binary without dependencies.
I am a PHP Dev and a DJ, but a #macos beginner. What kind of apps would you recommend that will make my everyday life easier? Already using #brew, #iterm2, #ddev + #docker, #atext, #clipy. I am already considering #alfred

Yes, dear #brew package manager, I definitely did want to upgrade my #hg installation when I’m rebuilding my #Emacs package. You know, the #Mercurial package I had to downgrade every time I tried to update a completely unrelated package.
Does anybody have a recommendation for a #macOS #PackageManager that is less “helpful” and instead simply does what one asks it to do? #HomeBrew’s approach of “oh, this looks a bit outdated so let me ‘help’ you with this” is starting to get on my nerves.

After tirelessly working on optimizing Cork’s custom package retrieval function, I managed to reduce the time to load packages from a cold start by… 6 milliseconds. What do you guys think, is it worth including in the next version…? 😅

Another hotfix coming to the Cork demo and latest release:
When you tried to remove a tap and it still had packages installed from it, it was supposed to give you an error; instead, it just hanged.
Now that error properly shows up.

Cold coffee! At least, cold-brewed. If you're hot, drinking hot coffee may not be your thing. But have no fear, you can make cold coffee on your own. Or, at least, some companies believe that you can and Wired is going to list them for you:(Some of these cost a lot less than I expected)

@marcan #finalcutOS clearly runs circles when it comes to regular #CCSS from big vendors, including #Apple themselves.
Noone buys #Apple's #macOS for being a #Unix - at least boone I know if, cuz those use #brew anyway.
Instead, people buy Hardware running it because they are being forced into using #Adobe stuff and don't want to suffer from Aneurisms because #Windows sucks.

Today I learned to #brew an old package. Thanks to this page

So I figured out what the problem is: #Homebrew. Looks like at some point I installed something with brew that installed @python3.11 and @openssl@1.1 – that installed ca-certificates and p11-kit via #brew and those messed up my system trust store. Similar to the issue I had with systemd as it looks like brew installed systemd for something as well.
(Remember, I’m on #FedoraSilverblue – an immutable OS, so I was trying out Brew as an account-level package manager. Turn out, not a great idea.)
