To construct the bridges in this part of Oregon, a falsework was first built over the river as a work platform. When construction was done, the bridge engineer stood in in the middle of the bridge while the falsework was knocked away.

If the bridge failed, the engineer had a real problem.

All truss members are solid wood, cut and milled near the bridge site.
