Last night, I watched "The Lost Angle," a recently released short documentary from Grit City Magazine in Tacoma that features a previously unknown 8 mm film (discovered at a local estate sale) that captured the infamous 1940 collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Via Grit City Magazine: "From this new angle, you get a better feeling of the scale of the whole thing, especially when the main span collapses."

An existing bridge + 2.) bridge piers that were adapted to accommodate a new-but-separated guideway for transit + 3.) the existing bridge deck is minimally disrupted for the construction of 2.)

It's about the same color as the Golden Gate, but that's the only common thing. This is the #Hanzeboog in #Overijssel, #TheNetherlands. Spanning the river IJssel it only allows foot, bike and train traffic and has a typical Dutch clean look about it.

Rogie Falls on the Black Water near Contin for #WaterfallWednesday
Being on one of the two main routes to #Inverness from home in #Skye we are very lucky to be able to "pop in" now and then when passing. The suspension footbridge across the water makes for superb views, but only if you don't mind the swaying and wobbling as you cross 🙂

All of the Kyle of Lochalsh line is pretty spectacular but I really like Strathcarron station. This was the view from the station footbridge this morning, towards #Inverness on the left, the view out to Loch Carron over the level crossing and eventually onto #Kyle, on the right.

Hopefully, someday, I-5's express lanes on the Ship Canal Bridge's lower deck can be repurposed for future Cascadia high-speed rail (since the BNSF's soundside tracks are vulnerable to sea-level rise).

A foursome of the old #IJsselbrug. At the time the bridge was closed off for maintenance, hence the weird viewpoints. The weather was extremely cooperative.

After a brief stop at home in #Skye it's time to get back on the road again. First stop is #Oban, and on the way we go over, then under, the Connel Bridge to the North of the town.
Passing at dusk on a fine evening the calm seas reflect both the last of the light and the bridge at the end of Loch Etive.
I'm no expert on bridges but this seems like a really fine one 🙂
