So, I've been working on Greg's Place, the site for my #blog this morning. One of the more interesting #features that I have for the site is the ability for #Mastodon users to #reply directly to a post and have those replies show up as a comment on the page where the content they're replying to is located. This actually is a #IndieWeb feature powered by linking my Dragon's Cave account to my blog using a service called #Bridgy My site also supports commenting via #Facebook and #Wordpress.com accounts. It takes a bit of extra effort on my part to get all this working, but I think it will help drive #social engagement on my site.

Yikes. Sometimes I wish #Bridgy would not drag in a whole conversation via #Webmention just because I dropped a link somewhere 😅
Sadly I get that it can't distinct between a "legit" mention and a random conversation. How should it - that's a moderation job 🤷
Testing #Webmention & #bridgy support. If you see this post, could you comment or like it?

Wrote about my adventures with #Webmentions and #Bridgy to create a decentralized comment section on my site.
Let me know what you think!

Looks like Bridgy can now handle auto-posting from your site to Mastodon (currently using IFTTT, which is convoluted and pretty slow). There’s also a make your website your Fediverse account, but I don’t even understand that at the mo, power user stuff.

Wonder if #Bridgy is going to stop publishing my posts to Twitter when the new API costs come in?
I want to #crossPost from my #11ty/#netlify site to my #mastodon account.
Should I just send an empty #webmention to #bridgy every time my netlify build finishes?
or do i have to figure out which urls are new or updated, and send webmentions only for those?

I'd like to be able to post from Mastodon to my blog (a sort of reverse #POSSE) and then optionally share longer posts I write on my blog to Mastodon.
It should be possible with #Bridgy but there is some sort of authentication issue that hasn't been resolved yet.

Even though I do have the #WordPress mobile app, posting from Mastodon has much less friction.

Hello @Gargron I am just curious whether you believe this issue will be reconsidered - https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/12915. The workaround doesn't work for me and it would be nice to have this feature work in #bridgy for #wordpress and #mastodon.#indieweb

Currently having a look on #bridgy
« It can also cross-post from your site to social networks »
That means you publish a post in your blog, and it will be replicated in all social media connected?
I am looking for something where, when you publish a post in Mastodon, it will be replicated in other social media.
Like #CrossPoster between Mastodon and Twitter :).
I wonder if I can do the same thing with #bridgy
Thank you if you can share some experiences :)
José from France :)
I have a few links open to look into what I'm doing wrong with #bridgy and sending it #webmentions.
Updated docs from #Bridgy:
"Bridgy Fed connects your web site to Mastodon and the fediverse. Bridgy Fed turns your web site into its own fediverse account, visible in Mastodon & beyond. You can post, reply, like, repost, and follow fediverse accounts by posting on your site with microformats2 and sending webmentions. Bridgy Fed translates those posts to fediverse protocols like ActivityPub & OStatus, and sends fediverse interactions back to your site as webmentions."
- Would like to have it be the commenting system of my actual blog (see jlgatewood.com or jason.gatewood.xyz. I'm aware this will take some time!)
- Would like to incorporate #indieweb standards as well as #activitypub so I can use #bridgy and talk to the folks still on "common" SNS.
- Easily duplicatable/scalable setup if possible as my family/friends may be interested in sharing server space or copying the setup...

Setting up Brid.gy, Webmention.io and microblogging on my Hugo powered website. A step further towards indieweb and owning my own content.

Are there any howto guides on how to use #Bridgy with #hubzilla or a Matrix/Telegram/Discord group?
Coming back to the #fediverse has been so refreshing and I wanna go all in on #indieweb as well as #activitypub and #zot

Very cool:
"#Bridgy Fed connects your web site to Mastodon and the fediverse....Bridgy Fed lets you interact with federated social networks like Mastodon and Hubzilla from your IndieWeb site. It translates posts, replies, likes, reposts, and follows from webmentions to federated social networking protocols like ActivityPub and OStatus, and vice versa."
Question for WordPress/IndieWeb experts. I have the Webmentions and Semantics Backlinks plugins installed. At the moment I don't actually show the Webmentions because I don't enable comments. However, Mastodon comments (not likes/boosts, but actual comments) do appear - I configured my account with Bridgy. Moreover, test comments using the Webmention test site do appear under posts. Why do these appear but other webmentions do not?
