An Easter message from Scotland and Malawi to friends and supporters around the world. As this is a three-times a century overlap, also good wishes to those celebrating Passover and Ramadan. Not forgetting those simply enjoying a fine northern spring. Have a good one!

Brigid
My favourite of the Irish saints,
She is part woman, part echo
Of the people who knew
Lรบ and Banbha,
Part rumour of how
A woman can outfox
The unsuspecting man.
I think she is part promise
That no legend really dies,
But is reborn, redressed.
And she is part reproach
To the poachers, the converters
Whose timid imaginations
Couldn't outwit the goddess
They found spread
Over the soul
Like a cloak.

Originally a Celtic goddess adopted by Christianity, Brigid always traditionally brought Spring to Ireland.
The ancient Tuatha dรฉ Danann people celebrated her fetsival of Imbolc as the re-awakening of the natural world. Trees re-flourished, hibernating animals awoke and days became longer and brighter.
Our Irish environment is as vital to our health and wellbeing now as it was then, we must work together to protect it.
Today I learned on the Irish Mythology Podcast that the Goddess/Saint #Brigid had two sisters also named Brigid. Was their mother an organisation obsessive who filed all her daughters under the same name? Anyway it's at https://linktr.ee/irishmythologypodcast Scroll back to February 2021. #brigidsday @irishmythology

Did you know I have a fast-paced, queer, Urban Fantasy novel in which the Goddess Brigid plays a pivotal role?

Any noteworthy events worth checking out that anyone knows of for the #Brigid bank holiday weekend?
Brigid means, โthe exalted one,โ and as a goddess, she has been many things to many people through the centuries.
She shows up consistently most fiercely for the marginalized. Iโve had the joy of reading a few posts and blogs tonight marking her as a modern champion of the LGBT community and a gay icon, and it makes me smile.
It resonates as in keeping with her character and her lore for me.
Brigid: History, Mystery, and Magick of the Celtic Goddess

This is a wonderful and thorough introduction to Brigid, the goddess, her magick, (healer, anvil & forge, bard) and her saintly lore #Brigid #CourtneyWeber #Books
For those who aren't sure if #Imbolc is Feb. 1st or 2nd... the answer is "Yes". ๐ It's an evening to evening celebration, usually celebrated with bonfires and candle light, as Brigid is one of the few female deities of fire and the forge, though she is also worshipped as a goddess of healing, poetry, fertility, and such a strong goddess in Ireland that the essence of her myth was reborn in the Catholic Saint Brigid of Kildare. She was my first Patron Goddess. ๐ So I have so much love for her. She will *always* be on my altar and in my heart, every time I write and create art... especially poetry. So, come twilight, light your fires and take a moment to nurture your inspiration, Indulge in creation, and bask in the warmth of Her energy tonight and tomorrow. Blessed be. #brigidsday #brigid #brigidofkildare #pagan #neopagan #witch #celticpantheon #celtic #druid #ecclecticpagan

A good and happy Imbolc to all!
Happy #Imbolc! February 1 is the feast day of St #Brigid of Kildare, abbess and patron saint of Ireland, and of dairy workers - owing to her red-eared cow and several miracles involving milk products.
