The song and ballad composer Carl Loewe was born #OTD in 1796.

This is his Frauenliebe, to the more or less the same text (by Adalbert von Chamisso) as Schumann's more familiar Frauenliebe und -leben, though Loewe includes poems that Schumann omitted.
