Happy comes nowhere near how I feel right now. Just watched #BristolBears play #NorthamptonSaints and I can honestly say that Bris were better than they've been for at least two years. Their 62-8 victory is their biggest ever victory in the Premiership (and Saints' biggest ever defea). Defence was outstanding and the lines they ran were superb. It was one of those days when everything went right. #RugbyUnion 🏉🐻

#RugbyUnion #BristolBears defeated their close neighbours #BathRugby 13-15 at the Rec. It was an awful game. Bath were dreadful and Bristol made them look hard to beat, which they weren't. It is not hard to see why both sides are in the lower places in the #Premiership table. The best thing about the game was that it ended before the cricket started in Wellington #NZLvENG

Supporting #BristolBears doesn't get any easier. A pretty decent performance today saw them leading league leaders #Saracens by 9 points with 5 minutes left at the StoneX stadium ( a ground at which Bris have never won). Then, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory they were beaten 20-19 to remain bottom of the table. Ah well - as they say, "It's only a game" - although it never really feels like it.

Following a sport team is a strange thing. You'd imagine that after a result like this. #BristolBears 33 Perpignan 19 we'd all be pretty happy. But no. Bristol played well in the first half to lead 33-7. They were awful in the second half. Bristol fans are unhappy because this has been a sort of pattern for about two seasons now - play well in part of games. Had they been playing stronger opposition today they would have lost - which is what they've done a lot recently.

Yet another dreadful performance by #BristolBears in #PremiershipRugby at London Irish. It's not often you read a match report as blunt as this. "Dreadfully disappointing, not for the first time this season" and "Bristol were rank average".

It's been 3 months since #BristolBears won a #PremiershipRugby match. On Tuesday they beat #Harlequins in a tense game by 12-15. I'm very happy. #RugbyUnion 😀🐻🏉

I have supported Bristol Rugby for (now #BristolBears ) for more than 55 years, and while it's a long while since they've been among the very best, the current team are probably the most frustrating ever. Today they drew with #LeicesterTigers which is ok but really they were good for 30 minutes, but poor for the rest of the game. Other sport fans will understand the frustrations of supporting a club, but we just can't help. It doesn't matter - but nothing (almost) matters more. #RugbyUnion

Well, #BristolBears put in a decent performance against the @SaleSharks this afternoon. The game finished 22-17 to Sale who deserved their victory. Bristol picked up a bonus point. It was their best game in the league for quite a while and suggests that they're heading in the right direction. (We've thought that before!) They need to build on today's effort if they're to get anything out of this season. #RugbyUnion 🏉🐻

@Parrotgone That's good to hear, and glad you enjoyed the experience. I am not able to get to many matches at Ashton Gate any more and am largely dependent on coverage on the TV and radio. I held a season ticket for many years. I miss it but am content with the move away that I made. #BristolBears promised so much a couple of seasons ago but seem to have lost their way recently. I hope it's just a temporary blip.

@upbristol I was at #BristolBears for the recent friendly game against #Cardiff and I was really impressed by the Bristol fans. They turned out in good numbers and there seemed to be a lot of committed supporters. Good to see.

#BristolBears take on a #SouthAfricaA side this evening at #AshtonGate . The sell-out crowd will be a record attendance for a sporting event at the refurbished stadium.

Well, it's been a while since #BristolBears won a game. It was only a friendly but Cardiff RFC put out a decent side. Didn't win very often way back (of course, technically Cardiff RFC are the regional side, not the club we so often lost to).

#BristolBears play Cardiff RFC this evening. It's a friendly due to loss of a #premiership match following the collapse of Worcester and Wasps. There was a time when this would have been one of the BIG occasions of the season - sadly no longer. But it's a reminder of past times when #rugbyunion was very different from what it is now.
